What are Juice Extractors?
Types of Juice Extractors
Typically, automatic juice extractors are categorized into Centrifugal Juicers or Masticating Juicers. Centrifugal Juicers use cutters that shred the food into small pieces that are spun in a basket (where the centrifuge comes in) to extract the juice from the pulp. These centrifugal juice extractors can create oxidation that degrades nutrients over time which means that the juice should be drunk right away. Masticating Juicers "chew" the food up and are lower speed units that produce a higher quality juice because they produce less oxidation and release more nutrients. The juices produced have a longer shelf life. There is also a third type of juice extractors and these are the Hydraulic Press Juicers such as the Norwalk Juicer which cuts and grates the produce using a vortex triturator, with the resulting mass extracted into a linen bag which is then placed under a hydraulic press. The hydraulic press then exerts a huge downforce that sees the extraction from the Norwalk Juicer of 50%-100% more juice than other juicers. These juice extractors produce very little oxidation and are touted to make the highest nutrient juice, but are also much more expensive than the centrifugal or masticating juice extractors.Which is the Best Juice Extractor?
The answer to this really lies with the user. The fastest juice extractors are the centrifugal juicers, but they are unable to handle leafy greens and wheatgrass as well as the other types. The hydraulic press extractors produce the best juice but are very expensive. And the masticating juicer requires more physical effort. So, to pick one machine from one manufacturer is not possible with each manufacturer having a range of home, commercial, pro or professional juice extractors. When buying a juice extractor, the best way is to decide which features you require in a machine, the type of juice you want to extract, whether from fruit such as apples, vegetables such as carrots or leafy greens such as wheatgrass, and the power needed. Browsing this website, and those of our recommended partners, should help you answer. The choice of juice extractors available is much greater than any of the retail stores! This page has information on the different types of juice extractor, whether centrifugal, masticating or hydraulic press, and includes information on how to select the best juice extractor for the job.

Review: I have used only one other juicer (at work) which costs twice what the JL juicer does. It had a fairly small capacity, though and we were constantly having to empty it. Now that I use the LaLanne juicer, I realize how wet the pulp is which means inefficient extraction. When I juice mango it is inevitably in small slices and some of it goes through without being juiced. I juice a quarter of a pineapple at a time, and small slices of that end up in the pulp basket without being juiced. Once or twice I have had to stop the machine and remove the slice which was blocking the chute. Carrots and apples go through without a problem. It runs quietly and is easy to assemble and use. Parts go in the dishwasher, but I end up washing it by hand. The pulp basket needs scrubbing with a brush, but washing inside the chute is easy because it is wide enough for my hand. (Not so with juicer at work.)You can use the pulp for baking. I put mine in the compost.

Review: This product is great! As for the platform that it sits on and the overflow, it doesn't have a description in the box, but it does have a picture. When loading very hard vegetables such as beets, cut them into quarters first, use common sense, if it stops the motor, unplug it and take it apart and get the chunk out that won't go through, it's doesn't have a jet engine. If you hold the pusher close to the shute while you put in the vegetables and fruits, and put it in right away, nothing has a chance to bounce back out. The Lalanne's were in their 80's when I saw them last, and very healthy. Try 2 golden delicious apples and 2 carrots, it makes one glass of delicious juice!! Use the pulp in meatloaf, or vegetable lasagne when you make vegetable juice. It is one way to get your vitamins without swallowing a pill that you don't even know if it is absorbed into your system or not. It is not that difficult to clean, it just takes a few extra minutes. I love it, I hope I am as healthy as the Lalanne's when I am 85!!

Review: This is my second juicer. I had a waring pro before this, and thought that one was good. But after getting this one, I am pleasantly surprised with the amount of juice we get out of it. Its fast and efficient because of the "big mouth". If you follow the instructions and place a plastic bag in the pulp container, it makes it that much easier to clean up afterwards. It is relatively easy to clean - but as with any product, it is easier to clean it as soon as you are done.

Review: It's a fair juicer and you can use it for everyday job but there are some cons:
When we juiced the first carrots, most parts of the juicer got the orange color and wasn't gone after washing.
It adds some pulp to the juice (which is not necessarily bad).
The motor rotates so fast that there's not enough time for juicing resulting in some unjuiced left-over.
Overall, if you don't want to spend a lot of money on a decent juicer, this one is good for the price.

Review: This juicer does have a larger feed chute which makes juicing easier but there are these three metal bars inside to prevent people from sticking their hand in machine. These bars obviously are there for safety but caused my food push to get stuck in the machine while juicing spinach and created a suction action. I had to wiggle and use EXTREME force to extract the food push from the machine.
I also tried to juice pineapple and green apples, two of my favorites but the machine over heated. I had to follow the instructions in the manual that covered overheating throughly, now I know why they devoted so much time to overheating as this happened twice with me. I could only proceed after unplugging the machine and waiting 5 minutes with no luck, and then after ten minutes I was ready to go again.
Also noticed that the pulp container had large pieces of apple skin about the size of a fifty cent piece that was not juiced. The food chute is justified to one side and also caused all the residue in the filter to collect on one side, so the longer I juiced the less juice it yeilded.
The machine had two speeds, at last but never stated how many rotations per minute occured while on high or low.
Overall disappointing.
